The Five Elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine
In Chinese Medicine, the five elements Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water creates a system for us to understand rhythms of nature , the human body, balance and transformation. Each element is linked to specific organs, emotions, seasons, and energetic qualities.
I teach the Five Elements as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, helping clients understand emotional balance, seasonal rhythms, organ systems and holistic wellbeing across the Costa del Sol. Each of the Five Elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water—relates to specific organs, emotions, seasons and energetic qualities in Traditional Chinese Medicine
🌳 Wood Associated with the Liver and Gallbladder. Represents growth, flexibility, and the energy of spring. Emotion: Anger.
🔥 Fire Linked to the Heart and Small Intestine. Symbolizes warmth, passion, and summer. Emotion: Joy.
🌍 Earth Connected to the Spleen and Stomach. Reflects nourishment, stability, and late summer. Emotion: Worry.
⚙️ Metal Related to the Lungs and Large Intestine. Embodies clarity, structure, and autumn. Emotion: Grief.
💧 Water Tied to the Kidneys and Bladder. Represents depth, wisdom, and winter. Emotion: Fear
These elements interact in cycles of creation and control, guiding practitioners in diagnosing imbalances and restoring harmony.
When one element becomes excessive or deficient, it can affect physical health, emotional wellbeing, and energetic flow
How I Use the Five Elements in My Treatments
The Five Elements help me understand patterns of imbalance in the body and guide my acupuncture, reflexology and holistic treatments. By observing emotional states, physical symptoms and seasonal influences, I can support stress relief, hormonal balance, digestion, sleep and overall wellbeing.
