Not being able to conceive can create stress, sadness and anxieties for an individual or any couple wanting to start a family.

All blood tests are fine, sperm quality and motility good, lifestyle healthy. Nothing is wrong on paper. After a year or so the diagnosis is : Unexplained Infertility

In my experience, seeing many clients with fertility issues , the one thing that can really change that vicious cycle of obsessing about ovulation, most fertile days , feeling excited about a possible pregnancy and then very deflated and sad when it does not happen is for someone to say :

There is no such thing as unexplained infertility !

At least not according to a Chinese Medicine practitioner.

There is always a reason to why pregnancy does not occur, it can sometimes be quite straight forward or very complicated but never unexplained.

It brings great comfort and hope to anyone struggling with the emotional turmoil of not being able to conceive to hear that there are things they can do to improve their situation.

As a Chinese Medicine practitioner I am not restricted to just one treatment method . There are no standard protocols , instead each client will receive a treatment specifically suited to their individual needs. I can use needles , cupping, moxibustion, massage or a combination of all .

Dietary advice is part of every treatment plan and can be a very useful and positive tool for clients.

How can Acupuncture help fertility issues?

The answer is , in many ways , for example by:

  • Regulating menstrual cycle

  • Increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries

  • Improving conditions such as PCOS and Endometriosis

  • Regulating hormonal imbalances

  • Relieving stress & anxiety

A recent study showed that acupuncture treatmen increases conception rates in IVF cycles.

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through IVF, having acupuncture is beneficial due to its holistic and non invasive nature.

I know I am biased being an Acupuncturist J but the positive effects it has on people and their well being speaks for itself.
