Your Face Never Lies

The expression "the eyes are a window to the soul" is very true, our emotional state is always reflected in the eyes and there are many skilled practitioners who can diagnose physical and emotional imbalances only by looking into the eyes of their patients.
The face is another mirror of the inside manifesting on the outside. We all read faces everyday, but we use only what is needed to us in that moment , such as : is the person agreeing with me ? smiling keeping eye contact or are they disagreeing ? frowning , biting their lip and so on.
We make decisions based on peoples facial expressions and we make assumptions about a person based on their facial expressions.
What we fail to do is to is to appreciate what a wealth of information each new face presents to us and how we can understand them better by studying their face in a different way.
As a Chinese medicine practitioner I use face diagnosis as part of my overall diagnosis , and it amazes me how much a face can change when imbalances are corrected and positive lifestyle changes are made. Deep lines are less visible, dullness and dryness in the skin is replaced with a healthy looking complexion , dark circles and bags under the eyes disappear and most importantly the eyes become bright and awake.
Different areas on the face represents different organs and their functions , take for example under the eyes which is one of the areas where the state of the kidneys can be seen. If it is dark and hollow it shows a deficiency in kidney energy and most probably dehydration. People suffering from allergies very often have these type of dark circles under their eyes as well as anyone suffering from kidney disease. Some kind of emotional pain that has not been processed is almost always involved as well , if the circles are pale in colour the pain is new and the darker they are the older the pain is.
If we look at lines and wrinkles some of the more typical ones are the two lines ( often called worry lines) in between the eyebrows. They show an imbalance in the liver energy , often related to anger, overwork, stress, and unexpressed emotions. Any dryness, redness, puffiness etc.in this area further shows an irritated liver. Medications will affect the liver as well as alcohol and drugs.
There are many ways of treating these imbalances as well as any others using acupuncture, diet and lifestyle changes. Practitioner and patient working together is key.
We live in a forever changing life cycle which means that nothing is permanent. If you want to transform yourself it is never too late, and your face is not separate from any other part of your body, it will change with you, lines come and go and hopefully you will add plenty of laugh lines along your journey :-)
