Acupuncture is a great natural treatment during pregnancy to deal with issues such as : morning sickness, swollen limbs, sleep disturbances , fatigue and anxiety .

Weekly treatments are particularly beneficial during the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare the body for a natural birth.

I often get contacted by women who are overdue and want to try acupuncture to get labour started and to avoid having to be induced.

Ideally I would recommend to come for treatments regularly in the last 3-4 weeks of pregnancy, it can really help to relax the cervix and the mind as acupuncture has an accumulative effect.

Postpartum care

After giving birth a mother needs to restore her strength and energy.

Plenty of healthy food and rest is the best medicine. This can be very difficult with a new born needing 24h care and attention. Life is turned upside down and sleep seems like a distant memory. Coffee , cake and fast food is on the menu.

New mothers not only have to care for their babies but also often have post birth complications and health issues.

Acupuncture treatment during the postpartum period is fantastic ! It can help with issues such as

-bleeding

-lactaction problems

-mastitis

-pain

-night/day sweats

-recovering from C section

-fatigue

-post natal depression

Self care is so incredibly important especially during the first few months after giving birth. Have acupuncture, massage, reflexology, yoga take a walk in the park or whatever tickles your fancy and makes you feel good. It is the best investment you will ever make.
